Alumni  John Provenza

John graduated for the Precision Machine Technology program at CPAVTS. Now re-named Advanced Manufacturing Technology at the also re-named, CPACTC. He somewhat recently came to visit, but this was no ordinary guest appearance...this time he came employed with Hass CNC to install a machine, in the program he graduated from! We took this exciting opportunity to touch base with John about his experiences in his trade since leaving CPACTC. Here is what he had to say:

Describe the company or industry in which you currently work.

“I am currently working for Haas CNC.”

 

What is your job title and what do you do?

“I am a Service Technician. I go to job locations to install and service machines.”

 

What other employment have you had related to your program areas at CPACTC?

 “Before working at Haas, I machined for Ames True Temper and TE Connectivity.”

 

What additional education and training did you receive after leaving CPACTC?

“After CPAVTS (now CPACTC), I attended Penn College for their Machining Program. I felt very prepared and even entered with Advance Placement.”

 

How was Cumberland Perry different than your regular high school?

“It was always a good time working in the shop, and not being back at school sitting in a classroom.”

 

How has your industry changed?

“I don’t know about industry, but the biggest change for me, has been that I am no longer running machines, I am now working on them.”

 

What is your favorite CPACTC memory?

“Corn hole tournaments in the shop.”
