Describe the company or industry in which you currently work.
"Cosmetology- a world where we live on the current trends. Basic fundamentals establish our guidelines, we are constantly evolving. I beautify my clients every day." "I get paid for my passion, and I love it!"
What is your job title and what do you do?
"Salon Manager. I maintain my salon, ensure product inventory, schedule for staff and appointments. I handle complaints, train new stylists, perform hair services still, do recruitment, network to maintain relationships with other beauty professionals once a month minimum."
What other jobs have you had related to your program areas at CPACTC?
"I worked at Great Clips- Smart Style. Ended up at Holiday Hair- Alline Salon Group/Regis, where optimally was the best fit and where I was happiest. "
What additional training and education did you receive after leaving CPACTC?
"GCA (great clips academy)- Starter program for new stylists to be haircut ready, just a one week class a local hotel. Holiday Hair provides on the job training, and development of management internally through years of on job experience."
How was CPACTC different than your high school?
"It was more diverse. So many different groups of people all coming for the same goal. Multiple school districts all co-learning."
How has your industry changed since your time at CPACTC?
"More improvements. Our tools warm up rapidly. Time is money in this industry. Floor pads for stylists help with standing for so long. There are more men working in this industry now. Social media is huge for new and upcoming trends to follow, and different forum to share a portfolio of your work."
What is your favorite Cumberland Perry memory?
"My cosmetology teacher was Rachel Miller, and she made my experience exceptional! She made sure I got my hours required, I was a teen mom, so I had even more responsibility than most. I truly appreciate everything she did for me, that was above and beyond what you expect from a teacher. She truly added to my happy experience of being a student at CPACTC."
