“I have learned a lot including how to remove and install struts, brake rotors, calipers, tires, etc. I also learned how to balance tires.”
“I’ve learned how to tear apart an engine and rebuild it, how to take off the shocks on the control arms and then reassemble.”

What is the hardest part of your program?
“I think the hardest part of our program is understanding every component, and keeping things organized. Everything must go back the exact way it was before.”
“Time management to get all of your work completed.”
“Dealing with and working with other people. Not everyone works the same way, but you must learn that skill also.”
What is the most fun part of your program?
“The most fun part of our program is probably the constant hands-on experience and the challenges.”

What is some recent technology you are learning to use in your program that is specific to your profession?
“We use something called AllData, and honestly it still confuses me a little.”

What is your plan for after high school? BE SPECIFIC!
“Continuing my automotive education at HACC, not sure what after that.”
“I will either go into a technical college to further my education in automotive or go straight into the workforce.”
What is going to be the highlight of the year?
“The highlight of the year will be learning to take apart and put back together an engine and also get it to start up again successfully.”
“I can’t pick one, this shop/class makes me happy.”
What are you proud of learning how to do in your program?
“I am proud of overcoming obstacles, learning to work manually, and that when if finish my education I’ll be set up with a good career.”
“Everything! All if this will make it possible for me to work on my own cars, friends, families, and customers.”
Explain a typical day in your shop.
“First is classroom work, then varying projects dependent on the unit, but we are always working hard and learning.”
“We arrive and cover theory first, then social studies, then when we come back, we get right to work in the shop.”
How is your program at CPACTC different from other classes you have had in the past? Can you give some examples?
“My program is very engaging. Instead of constant lectures, we learn then theory element and then immediately apply it to the real world.”
“Hands-on learning is how I learn. He teaches us a lesson, and then we go put it into action. Our teachers are also certified experts in our field of learning, they’ve done everything they are teaching us, and they can help us with everything.”
What advice would you give to a beginning Level 1 student who is just starting the program or to a student who is considering enrolling in your program at CPACTC?
“Work hard and apply yourself! It is difficult, and requires a lot of attention, but the satisfaction is so worth it!”
“Pay attention and ask questions. You will only be stuck if you don’t ask questions.”
“Appreciate how much of an opportunity this class is for you. Approach class with that a appreciation and a good attitude.”
“Take care of your OSHA and Career Safe asap, don’t wait until the last minute.”
